Key Verse: John 8:58 (NKJV) – “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

Introduction: Jesus’ Bold Claim
In Exodus 3:14, God reveals Himself to Moses as “I AM”—the eternal, self-existent One. When Jesus uses the same phrase in the Gospel of John, He isn’t just speaking metaphorically—He’s declaring that He is God in the flesh. Each “I AM” statement reveals a facet of His divine nature and how He meets the deepest needs of humanity.

Main Points:

1. I AM the Bread of Life (John 6:35) – Jesus is All You Need
After feeding the 5,000, Jesus calls Himself the true bread from heaven.
He contrasts physical hunger with spiritual hunger, pointing back to the manna in the wilderness.
Jesus is the only one who can truly satisfy the soul.
Scripture: Exodus 16:4, John 6:35

2. I AM the Light of the World (John 8:12) – Jesus Shines in Your Darkness
Jesus declares He is the Light—echoing Genesis 1 and Psalm 27.
Light reveals and guides; Jesus brings clarity where there is confusion and hope where there is fear.
Darkness cannot remain when His light shines.
Scripture: Genesis 1:3, Psalm 27:1

3. I AM the Door (John 10:9) – Jesus is the Only Way
Jesus is not one of many ways—He is the only way into salvation and life with God.
Old Testament imagery (Noah’s Ark, Tabernacle) shows there was always one door.
Jesus invites us to enter through Him.
Scripture: Genesis 6:16, John 10:9

4. I AM the Good Shepherd (John 10:11) – Jesus Cares for You
Jesus identifies as the Shepherd spoken of in Psalm 23 and Ezekiel 34.
He doesn’t abandon His sheep—He lays down His life for them.
Even when we wander, He pursues us with grace and protection.
Scripture: Psalm 23:1, Ezekiel 34:11, John 10:11

Conclusion: Who Is Jesus to You?
Each “I AM” statement is both a revelation and an invitation.
Jesus offers nourishment, guidance, access, and care—but we must respond.
The question is not just what He said—but whether we believe it.
